Prof. Bojan Joksimović, MD, PhD

Specialist in Pediatrics, Subspecialist in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology

In January 2015, he was appointed Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine Foča, University of East Sarajevo. That same year, he enrolled in doctoral studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, and the following year, he was appointed Coordinator of the Center for Biomedical Sciences.

Since 2018, he has been a Senior Assistant at the Department of Preclinical Subjects (Pathophysiology). He defended his doctoral dissertation on June 26, 2020, and since September 2020, he has held the title of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, University of East Sarajevo.

Clinically engaged at the General Hospital East Sarajevo and the University Hospital Foča.

He is a pediatric gastroenterologist-hepatologist with expertise in managing gastroenterological and hepatological issues in children: acute and recurrent abdominal pain, constipation, incontinence, poor weight gain, poor appetite, eating disorders and nutritional status, bowel dysfunction (including neurogenic bowel disorders and irritable bowel syndrome), gastroesophageal reflux, recurrent vomiting, food allergies, chronic diarrhea and malabsorption disorders, celiac disease, acute and chronic liver diseases, pancreatic disorders, biliary tract and gallbladder diseases.

Author of over 100 scientific articles and publications in national and internationally indexed journals, as well as international conferences. Throughout his academic career, he has received multiple awards for scientific research, including recognition as the best research instructor at the Faculty of Medicine in Foča for the academic years 2018/19 and 2021/22. In 2024, he received the University of East Sarajevo Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research.

His professional interests include pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology, pathophysiology, molecular medicine, and immunology.
